Homegrowers Market

EXCHANGE -TRADE - SELL or BUY Homegrown fruit and vegetables

Well, I'm starting to get a little proud of things! I've got about 10 snow pea plants growing happily in a mostly shady area, along with an abundance of carrots. Unfortunately the sunflowers have been eaten by some local wildlife (either mice or possums) - but this has led to me getting some bird netting to protect the garden.

Also unfortunately, my chooks love digging in the other garden which has uprooted all of the spring onions which were growing nicely. At least i planted them as a "if they work... GREAT!" attitude - I'll put a bit more thought into it next time, probably getting a window box or something similar to keep them in the sun.

HAHAHAH i would rather some chooks dig up my onions than having our bloody puppy dig up the entire veggie patch on a daily basis.. I recall once about 20 yrs ago i had a similar prob and i fixed it by laying some chicken wire down ,, then threw the seeds in over the top and the birds could peck the bugs but not scratch up the garden... hopes this helps for the future plantings???
Would love the have a chook or 2 in the back yard but if the veggies have no chance of surviving the puppy what chance does a chook??? :((

Isn't it great when things start to come together! What a pity the chooks got into the spring onions.

Happy gardening and what a great attitude. I figure if I don't mind sharing with the wildlife but the key word is 'share'!
