Hi Andy, Could you please email me that 2xA5, A4 sheet please, and your ABN. I have things quite organised I think. I have some vegetable posters from Seed Savers, so that we have something to decorate the walls, a case of Green Harvest catalogues to share and encourage interest and conversation and am arranging a produce display from around the neighbourhood. I will be pleased to pass any resources on to whoever does the next Expo. There is no way around the insurance which costs $100, and will do so for each Expo event as far as I understand. Is this all OK as far as you are concerned? Jess.

Yes, 2 A5 on an A4 would be great. I would be happy to be a moderator and an email account would be great. Can I use this address on the Expo Contract?

Just filling out the contract....
Don't suppose you have an ABN?
Liability Insurance?
Is is possible for you to email members requesting any support possible to help be available on the stand, particularly on the Saturday? The contract actually states that someone needs to be available at all times, and my kids have sport committments on the Saturday.

Many thanks, Jess.

I will just be doing the printing on my colour printer. Thanks and I look forward to receiving the artwork. I have contacted the organisers by email and copied you in. Very exciting!
Jess.

Andy, I'm still pretty keen to 'push the cart' for the site if you like. I'm just pretty passionate about the idea that one of the single most effective ways on a local level that we can help save this planet and its people, slow global warming, reverse increasing levels of ill health and obesity, and reduce the general exploitation of natural resources is to dip our fingers into the earth and grow at least some of our and our family's food. If I can do it, anyone can. This is a 'deep into the night' discussion that I love to have, but the opportunity to promote the idea (for free) to a state wide audience of people who already have some inclination towards gardening is too good to miss. In my experience, the organisers of these things will have a generic sort of sign above the booth with the name of your organisation on it already. I can provide a table, cloth and chairs. I can have something running on my laptop (so we will need power), and create a display of produce. I am happy to create some sort of signage of my own to attract attention. Can you direct me to some display pages in particular that would be good to print off (colour, A4) to include in the display? Do you have a PDF of a brocure; I will be happy to arrange some copies for distribution too. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Andy,
Yes, I will do Sydney this year for you if you like. I have conducted trade displays for my work for the last ten years or so, so can put something together I'm sure. Perhaps you could give me a call if you would like me to do this. My home number is (02) 4234 4033, mobile 0423 689 344. I can set up and be there Friday, and do Sunday and pack up, but am unavailable on Saturday as my kids have sports committments and it's finals time. If you would like to forward me the organisers details I will be happy to speak to them directly. What resources do you have available? Display ideas? Looking forward to speaking with you.
Regards, Jess McCarthy

Thanks for the welcome & creating such a wonderful site....I will be putting the word out amongst my friends & associates (both here in Tas. and the mainland)!
I'm also pretty new to "real" gardening as i've always rented & each attempt at a vege patch (apart from one) was a pitifull enterprise....the one that worked was a market garden impersonator...and the secret was good compost!
I've just moved into my first home, and the garden requires a lot of work and planning, but in between uni study, i intend to become as self sufficient as I can produce wise.
cheers!

Andy's Garden Update - Pollinating Pumpkins Grow in Trees

I've spent the last couple of weeks pruning my pumpkin plants as they try to wrap themselves around more vulnerable and less aggressive inhabitants of my veggie patch. I noticed a shoot starting to move vertically up the side of a large bush. Knowing this bush was more than a match for my rampant squash I let it do its thing, leaving my secetares firmly in my pocket - curious as to what might happen. What happened is after reaching the same height as the bush - the pumpkin decided to start trave… Continue

Andy's Garden Update - How NOT to plant & stake Snap Peas

Don't forget, I'm pretty new at this gardening caper.

So, after reading the instructions on the seed packet I promptly stuck my finger into the moist soil and dropped a pea in each hole...........so far so good.

The peas started to break though the surface a few days later, so I re-read the packet 'stake the peas'. Another week later and my peas had started fighting - trying to strangle the chloroform out of each other with their whispy tentacles, desperately looking for something to cling to.… Continue

Andy's Garden Update - $18 Cold Frame

As the creator of Homegrowers, I thought I'd start a blog about developments and progress in my garden. My experience of gardening is very limited and can best be described as enthusiastically creative.

This weekend I've accomplished 3 things on my 'to do' list.

Firstly I've built a Cold Frame for $18.......

I went to my local tip and visited the recycling section, where I normally buy plant pots for 10cts each. I found a bottom opening window complete in its frame, and started to negotiate a… Continue
