I've spent the last couple of weeks pruning my pumpkin plants as they try to wrap themselves around more vulnerable and less aggressive inhabitants of my veggie patch. Don't forget, I'm pretty new at this gardening caper.

So, after reading the instructions on the seed packet I promptly stuck my finger into the moist soil and dropped a pea in each hole...........so far so good.

The peas started to break though the surface a few days later, so I re-read the packet 'stake the peas'. Another week later and my peas had started fighting - trying to strangle the chloroform out of each other with their whispy tentacles, desperately looking for something to cling to.… Continue
