well hello again john! I thought you may have got lost in cyberspace as some of the other persons i have corresponded with. The brassicas are very gluttonous feeders indeed, i usually give them a good side drink of manure tea every two weeks and have them mulched up to thier heads with straw, grass clippings, leaves and copious quantities of rabbit poo, easily obtained if you breed them, however manure tea and mulching is the go. I trialled also a mud slurry, dirt mixed with water and some manure and poured over the plants when they are young, not when the vegheads appear though.... would be a bit gritty on the tooth. the method used aided in the protection of the plants from frost and the horrid white cabbage moth. U took a few hundred seedlings up to some friends the other day, they were stoked considering they had always purchased thier seedlings in the past and had commented as to how expensive they were for so few, nice surprise for them... thats what its all about. Any seeds you looking for let me know. Sorry you cant find too many likeminded earthgardeners within a cooee but that adds to the challenge.... try converting some, thats what i did, mind you it wasn't always a win win, there were some that would be quite happy if i just did all the work for them, they obviously had'nt learnt from allsops fables, the little hen with the grain of wheat, if you are not familiar the hen finds a grain of wheat and tries to enlist all to help her plant, tend, reap and mill the wheat, no-one wanted to but, when it came time to eat the bread that she had made from it, well everyone wanted a piece of it! The hen of course then refused. I am sure many a child has learn't many a valued lesson from the fables. Then there is many an adult who has forgotten the share principle. I do have a reasonable network of goodly folk that share the gardening pashion that i do and it's partly due to the fact that i was willing to share that with them in the first place; as for the others; well they will have to learn the hard way. It's going to be frost tonight, i can smell it. regards Ash.

greetings from the latrobe valley organic john! The names ash to most folks and as you can see i live in the latrobe valley. Thought you might like to get a genuine reply from some one that is pashionate about sowing and growing! I have had very few responses to my site, which is disappointing as i have a lot to offer in the way of seed swap, info ect, i'm not a know it all but i do have a lot of knowledge on most things edible and growable. I practice permaculture, have a menagerie of chooks and meat rabbits that we breed and eat and sell the surplus of as well.We have begun incubating eggs of duck, turkey and the rarer breed of chook to keep the genetics viable. We also raise the rarer veg and fruit to collect the seed, again, another bonus to the gene pool, the more we distribute the better! We do all this on a surburban block of land... read... pocket hankerchief farm! I have found that there are a few on this website that could'nt possibly be serious about the website as they either haven't responded or they have nil in thier gardens.... ahem, thought serious gardeners gardened all year? Any how that's my opinion. If you would like to swap seed and converse, fresh food swap is geographically impossible, however i may have some thing/s you may very well be looking for. Cheers! Ash.
