Hi everyone, my sweet potato is running rampant and I hear sweet potato leaves are great in stir fries. If anyone would like some please let me know. Vanessa

Hi Vanessa. Regarding your question on powdery mildew, I believe the concentration is 1 part milk to 10 parts water. I use 100 ml of milk to 1ltr of water and that works for me.

Hi Vanessa,
Nice meeting you here, Acacia Ridge is indeed very close. We don't eat much pumpkin at all (I enjoy growing it though, they are so cute), so I'll leave that to someone else who needs it more. I'd love to offer you something in return but we don't grow enough of anything to swap/give away at the moment, and I'm planning to pop some more seeds in the ground this weekend and hope to get bounty harvest for swapping/giving away in the next few months :) BTW, love your veggie pictures ~

Not sure about the pumpkin, especially if it is setting fruit then falling off - do the plants look healthy otherwise? Has there been too much/ not enough water and/ or very sporadic watering? Start a thread - someone would know...
I know the beetroot is too small because I dug one up and looked at lol! At the moment the tops are around 30 cms so I guess I just stay patient, easy to say.

Thanks for your thoughts. The transplanting was my primary concern but will just wing me thinks.

Hello Vanessa

I'm hopping to pick your brain re: Tomatoes (see what happens when your first to reply to other topics.. ha-ha) I will be bringing them on in seedling trays prior to putting them in the Earth and was wondering if you could help me with a guide as to when I should put the seeds in/plant out seedlings.

BTW. Love your PICs..Yummy looking Pumpkins and Corn...I am rather envious of the warmth and sun that your state has.

Hi Vanessa, Your photos are great. Everything looks so lush and green up there. (Except for that poor cauliflower). Happy gardening.

Hi Vanessa, I have just started my gardening journey (I took a giant leap from none to 5 raised gardens in a month) but as soon as I have some excess produce I would love to exchange!
If you're interested in heritage seedlings I have bought a number of seed varieties and am happy to pop a few extra in for you.

Gardening update - 28th November

Did a little more on the garden edging today with a bit of male help to speed up the process. I have a few carrots that have just come up and my zucchini is starting to produce with at least one definitely on the way. Looking forward to doing a bit more planting once the garden is raised and ready to go. Now I just need to find out when to pick zucchinis!

Gardening again

Well, I've been pretty much absent from my garden for quite some time. Working full time certainly doesn't help things! After a good few hours of weeding I think I may have started to get somewhere. I've planted some new carrot seeds and parsnip seeds so hopefully they will be growing soon. My zucchini is growing very well and with any luck I'll be getting some zucchinis soon. The cucumber is looking quite sorry for itself, it does have a small cucumber on it but most of the leaves have died off… Continue

Harvesting

I've just started harvesting my first crop of peas. Just a few pods today but more are on their way and should be ready in a couple of weeks. Have pulled out my first lot of mini-carrots too. They are quite small due to growing in a styrofoam box (and running out of room I think) but will still be tasty! More and larger crops to come for them too. My corn has actually made it further along than last time (possum trouble) and my first cob will be ready to harvest shortly - the silk is just starti… Continue

Winter Vegies Progress

Well I just got back from my NZ trip to discover that my garden didn't actually die while I was away!! Especially surprising considering no-one looked after while I was gone. There's plenty of weeding that needs to be done but other than that everything is doing well and starting to produce. The lettuces are huge and better than my first crop, tomatoes are growing and will need staking shortly, corn has started producing cobs and peas have started their pods. The only plant that suffered form la… Continue
