Haven't been in touch for a while. Hope you are well.
Dont know if you remember the orange tree hedge I planted last year? Anyway...4 rockmelon plants came up in my compost under them and I have let them go a bit mad. One vine has 4 good sized fruit on it but I'm not too sure when I should pick them. Are they like pumpkins where the vine starts to die off and then you know its time to harvest? I don't want to pick them too early. Thanks, Ton
My oranges are still in their pots but I am hoping for some time to plant them this weekend! Everyone keeps telling me the roots will cause problems with my pool as they will be planted only 1 1/2m from the edge. If I keep them clipped to a hedge I am hoping there won't be any problems.
What do you think?
I have purchased the orange trees to go between my neighbour and I. 2 x Blood Orange, 4 x Washington Navels and a Valencia for the middle. Not sure if that is overkill. The planting spaces are in the pic behind the pool. I have temporarily planted them - still in their pots. The distance of the bed is 10mtrs. Maybe I should only plant 5? What do you think? Thanks for the comment on my photos!
