Hi everyone,
I live on 30 acres at the foot of the Macedon Ranges. We have a productive vegie garden when it is not being blown away or eaten by our Houdini cow. I look forward to the opportunity to swap and trade fruit veg etc.

Just a quick question. Has anyone actually swapped or traded and fruit or veg in this group? I've gotten loads of info from the site but have never noticed (maybe I'm not apying enough attention) any people actually coming together to share what they've grown

Greetings,
I like what you've done with the place. =)
I have a larger than average vege garden (maybe not true in present company), with a few fruit trees for good measure. Apple, Pear, Olives, Lemons, Apricots, Figs, and Passionfruit vines. Vegies usually include pumkin, carrots, potatoe, ruhbarb, blueberries, rasberries, onions, beetroot, brocholi, cauliflower and more. Herbs include lots of peppermint, coriander, thyme, calendula, and a little bit of many other things.
We like to dry preserve fruits and vegies, and try to do a bit of this every season.
We grow organic of course, and compost and mulch a lot.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi I live in Cranbourne North. Have always been interested in being self suffient with fruit and veggie ( would love chooks too but not allowed:( )Last year I planted a johnathon apple , Apricot, Plum, Peach, Lemon, Pear trees but still want a nectarine and a cherry and maybe a orange??Spent today planting 9 different types of veggie seeds to put in the hot house (Including strawberries (( at least 5 punnets)) Have a passion for learning new things and also love crafts. I teach myself a new craft each year so far have learnt quilting, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, embroidery, cross stitch, sewing. Love bottling and making my own produce ( home made Lemon/Ginger butter) yummy And hopefully will spend most of this summer in the garden. I am 44 tomorrow and have 4 children. Ages from 26(G), 22(B), 20(G) & 4(B) years of age. Oh and a hubby who loves the fact i know how to grow food LOL
Hope to chat with you all soon
Cheers Sue

Hi everyone,
I have too much bok choy in my vegie patch and it's ready to pick and eat right now. If anyone would like some I'd be happy to give it away or swap it for something in return (I'm in Footscray area). Cabbages and cauliflowers will be coming soon too...
:)

what a great idea I think this is just what's needed to connect people and learn more. I have always managed to grow even when I lived in a flat in St Kilda I took over the back 2x3mtr strip and grew all sorts of goodies. It became a real meeting place for old and young. Now I have a large garden and a family and grow as much as I can. Preserving, freezing and always looking out for something different to grow. My chickens are much loved and an essential part of my gardens health. We have tank water for the vegie patch but I ran out last year so this year we have started to use the water from the showers I just have to watch what we for shampoo, soap ect. Looking forward to learning more from everyone bye for now linda
