I live on 10 acres of heavy clay soil near Forster. Have improved the soil in selected areas and am having some successes with various fruit and veges. Currently have excellent chokos, limes, navel oranges, pink grapefruit and banana plants to swap. I am looking for laying hens. Also would be interested in other seeds, seedlings and cuttings that you may wish to propose for trade.

Hi everyone, does anyone know where I can get some Mangel Wurzel seeds?

PS. Once a month there is a poultry auction on at the Wyong Racecourse, but not sure which day that is. I think the local poultry club is having a show day in the next couple of months if you're after pure breeds. Sorry, I haven't got contacts for either of those at the moment...

Alison, I believe Radley's Rural produce store (near Wadalba) is open for orders of chooks, pick up this Friday. The phone number is 4392 7388, not sure of the other details. This may be good timing if you already have your Fort Knox built!

HI All. I live in Tuggerawong, east of Wyong on the Central Coast. I am new to this site and have had a vegi garden for a while but it hasn't had anything in it for the last 5 years. That is now changing and I am very keen to meet people in my area who would like to swap or sell homegrown fruit and vegi as I am not satisfied with what you get in the shops and the monthly trips to the Sydney markets is getting too much. I have three kids who are growing very fast so they eat lots and love their fruit and veg.

I am also looking at getting chooks in the next 4 weeks. My husband has now finished the chook house which I call Fort Knox and as it will be the school holidays soon it will be a great time to get the chooks. If anyone can tell me where I can get them from??. Anyway love to hear from anyone and happy gardening.

Hi there. I just got my latest copy of Gardening Australia and they mentioned a site called myfolia.com which is a great online database for tracking what you planted when and recording tasks, journals, etc about your garden.....anyway just thought I would let the folks know in case anyone was looking for something like that.

Other than that have spent the day gardening. I have an article by Jackie French on how to be self sufficient on a balcony using containers and hanging baskets. Because we rent and most landlords aren't too keen to let you setup a vegie patch I am going to give it a go this year. I am however also going to sneak a square-foot garden in the backyard and experiment with that gardening technique so am keen to hear any advice from people who are well versed in it.

Hi there.... I heard about this site a while back and only just got back here and joined up, to see what it was all about and how it works. I'm out in the valley west of Wyong, NSW. It seems there's no-one else close, and hopefully that will change in time. I know there are people out there starting to grow their own vegies, and those who have chooks...

I'd be happy to help at the expo if I can but where is it on?
Barbelle Comment by Barbelle on July 24, 2008 at 7:36pm
Does anyone want to get involved in having a presence at the ABC Gardening Expo 2008 in Sydney?
It's on August 29-31. I don't know what we could organise in just over a month, but it would be good to have some kind of presence.
